Ours is an open society. One of the biggest claims to that is our Public Records. The Freedom of Information Act mandates their availability. There are various categories of Public Records and within the range which pertains to crime violation are Arrest, Court, Inmate, Criminal, Sex Offender and Public Arrest Records along with quite a few others. Driving and Jaywalking offenses are available too if it is so wished.

One of the most well searched of the Criminal categories is Free Public Criminal Records. The key differentiation in it from the others is that an official arrest is documented every time someone is apprehended, detained or brought into custody by any enforcement authorities, including Military personnel, on grounds of suspicion or allegation of breaking the law whether or not it results in eventual incarceration.

Being Public Records, anyone has the right to access and view anybodys Arrest Records as long as its done legitimately. Public Arrest Records can be retrieved at government agencies tasked with the function. This can be done by walk in, fax, telephone, mail or online over the internet which has become increasingly available and popular. They can also be purchased from commercial record providers in the various ways mentioned.

Free Public Criminal Records fall under state jurisdiction and although they are generally free of restriction in access, exception is taken when it is determined to be against public interests. Examples of such situations are security and classified issues, protection of individual privacy and when juvenile subjects are involved. On top of that, there are variations from state to state in regard to restriction on access and a check with the local authorities may be necessary.

The opposite side of the coin to transparency is privacy. The laws forbid employers to ask direct and open questions about Arrest history during job interviews. In other instances, its simply touchy. Public Arrest Records are thus very useful for discreet checks and is widely, albeit quietly conducted on employees, social acquaintance, tenants, neighbors, nannies, care-givers, future spouse, prospective in-laws or any fishy people we come across.

A great deal of information about people can be derived from their Police Arrest Records. Typically, they contain the personal particulars and description of the individual, the details of each of the arrests such as the time and place, case number, warrant, agency, offence, and so forth. Related records which may also show up include bankruptcies and liens, civil judgments, tax offense and others.

Police Arrest Records come in basically two versions, namely free-of-charge (FOC) and fee-based. FOC ones are chiefly found at government agencies. Some degree of freebie may also be available with commercial record providers but theyre usually bundled with some other paid services. Fee-based Public Arrest Records though are in general of higher standards and readiness so if anything serious is intended, its best to turn to the pros. They save a lot of hassle too.
